Summer STEAM Camp 2025
June 15, 2025
Scholars kicked off the first day of camp at Fox Hall, where they were given a presentation by one of our counselors, Mr. TK Musa and the curriculum overview by Mr. Foster.
On Day 2, Scholars were learning and building rockets. They would use Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligene to better understand the alignment of one's critical thinking and analytical skills. Scholars also met with Dr. Aliyah Griffin, the first Black marine biologist to achieve a doctorate degree from UNC Chapel Hill in May 2025. She discovered her passion in marine sciences at the age of 5. She delivered an inspiring presentation about the study of global environmental changes with ocean coral reefs.
On Day 3, Scholars learned about AI and how to create websites/pictures with technology at North Carolina A&T State University Harold L. Martin Sr. School of Engineering Research & Innovation Complex. Scholars also visited the Greensboro International Civil Rights Center and Museum to understand the importance of Justice and Freedom.
On the 4th Day, Scholars built their rocket and put their rockets to the test. Scholars learned how to calculate both speed and amplitude and data was collected during launching.
For the 5th Day, Scholars got the chance to meet Chace and Sage Coke. They are the founders of "Future Path AI" and the authors of "Level up to Greatness". These brothers, who are 15 and 13, wanted to create something that can help people find their future occupation, colleges, and majors that would be best for them. It only took them 1-2 months to create this resource. Their book embodies the importance of having good character and value traits.
On the last day, Scholars wrapped up the camp by presenting to family guests about what they learned during their time at camp.
